miami (happy place)

I don’t know what it is about Miami, (OK – maybe it’s the endless sunshine, beautiful people and places, nightlife and dancing, fresh fruit and smoothie spots on every corner, and the fact that I have nothing but amazing happy memories of my life there), but whenever I fly down and taxi over to my godmother’s house on the beach I’m suddenly struck with pure joy.

This trip was no different, and my boyfriend and I enjoyed every minute of our weekend vacation here. We did a whole lot of lounging in the sun (much needed after New York’s winter months), walking along the beach, seeing family and friends, checking out new spots (The Living Room at Faena Hotel was amazing), and eating at some of our old favorites from when we were at college at University of Miami together (go Canes!).

soon we’ll be daydreaming

flora farms is easily one of my very favorite places on earth. last october i was lucky enough to visit on a business trip, and returning with my boyfriend a week ago was a dream come true (this special farm is meant to be shared with someone you love). the only way to really describe it is “magical”. imagine the most bountiful, beautiful vegetable and flower farm with an adorable eatery attached, complete with a pizza oven, bread bakery, produce and honey stand, a margarita bar, and really good live music! flora’s menu is seasonally focused, with an emphasize on their amazing garden. if you visit cabo, go to flora. better yet if you’re planning a trip, plan one to flora – and enjoy cabo too! 🙂 we so enjoyed our sunset dinner, that we returned for a second the following night (and didn’t want to leave). we knew we would be daydreaming about our amazing meal and evening of dancing under the mexican stars as soon as we returned to nyc.

valentine’s out east

spending valentine’s day weekend with my love in the hamptons, with no real plans other than to relax and enjoy the beauty of the quieter season, was absolutely perfect. every morning we woke up to the most idyllic winter views of fresh snow blanketed over sagaponack’s crop fields, and spent our days cooking, watching our favorite show, snuggling, brunching, going on walks around town, falling asleep to star lit skies, and sleeping in until our hearts desired. needless to say — it was hard to leave.

bonito dia!

A few weeks ago I was asked to fly to Playa del Carmen (with only one day’s notice) to capture content for the hotel group I work for. Although the trip came as a very last minute surprise, it was beautiful, warm, and a nice break from the concrete jungle!

I visited some of my favorite local spots that I discovered during my last trip to Playa, and was greeted by my “family” at the hotel. It was 48 hours of hard work, mixed with a little bit of exploring and a lot of fresh fruit smoothie drinking 🙂

{ a visit to my favorite vegan cafe – la senda – for my smoothie of choice: mango, orange juice, banana, and pineapple }  { a beautiful day along playa del carmen’s 5th avenue }  { coffee for 1 }

Who knew a blizzard could be so relaxing? I guess my idea of a blizzard has always been a bit scary and inconvenient, however Jonas proved that a heavy snowstorm could be pretty awesome. My boyfriend and I experienced total relaxation, peace and quiet, and ate lots and lots of cookies, homemade meals, and watched a ton of movies. If all blizzards were like this past weekend, I am happy to welcome a few more this winter.
