2013 was a year of fun, adventure and excitement.
I turned 22 in February and despite a couple of reservations about leaving the year 21 behind, I was happy to move forward and excited for the months ahead. A few weeks later I was published in Ocean Drive magazine during my time interning for them on Miami Beach. In the end I ended up with 5 different stories printed and I’m so appreciative for my time there. During the month of March I interviewed sports celebrities for the Make-A-Foundation and spent spring break in New York City with best friends and a snow storm. I attended a few other charity events in the spring, including The Black’s Gala, United Way’s Interactive Dinner with Chef Daniel Boulud and of course, Miami’s Wendy Walk. About a month later I received the go-ahead from UM to study abroad. After the spring semester finished I traveled to San Francisco and about a week later my solo mission to Paris for 6 weeks began. As expected, studying in Paris was one of the best experiences of my life. My only regret is not being abroad longer! The city of light/love has become one of my favorite places in the world, and I will always have a special place for it in my heart. It’s hard to believe that all happened 8 months ago… At the end of June and into the first week of July I traveled up and down the coast of Italy with one of my best friends. That, was a dream. I’m thankful for all the pictures I took or else I wouldn’t believe the trip actually ever happened. Following my time on the boat, I unexpectedly got a mini internship in New York City and basically couch-surfed for two weeks, going out and working in the city with great friends, old and new.
August came quickly after that and so did my last fall semester at the U. I took on a full schedule of classes and made a promise to make it the most fun semester yet. Without question this has been the best semester and appropriately, in my senior year, the most fun I’ve had. It wasn’t exactly how I imagined it would be… it was better. From the ridiculous kickball league my roommate and I joined (for better or worse ) to the amazing girls weekend in San Fran/Napa, to all the late night mischief that followed similar antics out at Bardot or Blackbird, to being the last people out at dinner in Miami…there hasn’t been a dull moment.
Between all the shows, sleepless nights, sunny days, good tunes, great friends and then some, I haven’t stopped smiling. And now it’s finally coming to a close. Final exams and last minute paper deadlines are in full force, and here I sit procrastinating (like every past semester to date)…keeping up with tradition I suppose.
On Thursday, I head to NYC for one last hoorah in 2013, and then, I’m sure, will start the process and list making of hopes and dreams for 2014 : )
I’ve got a pretty good feeling about this next one.
